Our Heritage
A tradition kept within my own family.
Long before fragrance came in a marketed bottle, it came in a small vial passed between family members — worn to Jumu'ah, gifted at weddings, kept for ourselves rather than shown off. That is where my own familiarity with oud, musk, amber and the other materials that make up traditional attar comes from: not a general custom, but something specific to my family.
Wijdan Scents & Botanicals was founded to carry that personal familiarity forward — not to reinvent it, and not to imitate Western perfumery, but to present it with the same care a fragrance house anywhere in the world would give its finest work. I work with oud, musk, sandalwood, blackseed, amber and frankincense because these are the materials my own family has always trusted, and because they simply last.
The name “Wijdan” speaks to feeling and inner perception — fitting, since scent is one of the few things that can carry memory, identity and emotion all at once. Every fragrance I release, from Pure Barakah to Signature Autorité, is built to be worn daily, not saved for an occasion.
How We Work
From material to bottle.
Sourcing with patience
Oud, sandalwood, amber and blackseed are sourced from trusted traders who understand quality over speed — the same way it has always been done in Kano's markets.
Blended by hand
Every attar is measured and blended by hand in small batches. No two batches are rushed, and no formula is outsourced to a factory line.
Rested, not bottled instantly
Blends are left to rest so the notes marry properly — a slower process than mass perfumery, but one that produces a rounder, longer-lasting scent.
Checked before it reaches you
Every finished bottle is checked for strength, longevity and consistency before it is sealed and prepared for delivery across Nigeria.
Our Materials
What goes into every bottle.
Oud(Agarwood)
Resinous, smoky and deep — oud is the cornerstone of traditional attar-making, prized for centuries across the Sahel and the wider Islamic world as the mark of a serious fragrance.
Musk
Warm and skin-close, musk carries a fragrance long after other notes fade. In local tradition it is worn daily and associated with cleanliness and quiet presence.
Sandalwood
Creamy and calm, sandalwood grounds a composition the way a good foundation grounds a home — quietly, and without asking for attention.
Blackseed(Habbatul Barakah)
Known as the 'seed of blessing,' blackseed brings an earthy, herbal accord that roots a scent in something older than fashion.
Amber
A resinous warmth that reads as sunlight held in the skin — amber is what gives Wijdan's compositions their golden, radiant finish.
Frankincense(Lubban)
Sacred resin burned for centuries in homes and places of worship across the region — frankincense lends a smoky, citrus-tinged clarity to a blend.
